Charles is a prominent viticulturist known for his contributions to modern winemaking and vineyard management.

His journey began with his studies in viticulture at Stellenbosch University in South Africa. This formative experience was the cornerstone of a career that led him to explore vineyards and wineries across the globe. From the sun-soaked landscapes of South Africa to the rolling hills of New Zealand, and the diverse terroirs of California, Germany, Austria and Australia, Charles immersed himself in the art of winemaking, gathering knowledge and refining his craft.

Over the years, his dedication and expertise have garnered recognition, including prestigious titles such as “Viticulturist of the Year” in New Zealand and Australia. Charles’ commitment to sustainable practices and his profound understanding of the relationship between soil, climate, and grape production have set him apart as a true steward of the land.

Charles is celebrated for his innovative approach to viticulture, integrating cutting-edge technology with traditional techniques. His work often focuses on soil health, climate adaptation, and the careful management of vine growth to produce exceptional wine and using smart Tech like his current role with BioScout to change the way we farm.

Over the years Charles got recognised in the following fields:

  • Viticulturist of the Year in Orange, NSW Australia (2015)
  • Top 50 Young Gun of Wine for Viticulture, All of Australia (2020 and 2021)
